Top Business Card Design Tips

Of the huge number of business cards printed every day, 88% will be thrown out in less than a week.  But this will not happen because business cards cannot be effectively used as a marketing medium.  In fact, it only requires 2,000 business cards to increase the company’s sales of nearly 3%. This is a shocking high return on only one marketing resource.

So why do so many cards final garbage? The fact is that many business cards are designed to be poor. No one wants to stick to it and feel cheap. This means that the person whose name is on the card does not get their money.

However, as a designer, you can create an extremely unique business cards. For example, raised spot business cards or metal cards can make sure that they act as effective marketing tools for your business.

With that in mind, here are a few tips to help you design the perfect business card.

Add Contact Information

Choosing the right information can be a real challenge because people connect in so many ways.  The secret is to understand how your target audience likes communication and connects to their level.

Name

Cards without name are almost useless, because the prospects want to contact the actual person, not some anonymous contacts. Names and job titles will let people know who your customers are and their jobs. You can even adjust the title, making them more unique.

Company Name and Logo

The prospect not only needs trusting cardholders, but also the brand represented by cardholders. This is very simple if your customers are self-employed. When your customers work in the company, you can help build brand trust by emphasizing the company’s name and logo.

Telephone

Phone numbers are very important. Believe it or not, some people are still willing to talk on the phone because it is more personal than the site, and is unlikely to be misunderstood rather than email. If you are dealing with multiple numbers, be sure to mark which number is for what. You may also want to avoid any non-commercial personal phone numbers.

Email

Include emails and URLs. In this way, prospects can contact your customers directly or explore their website on their own. As with the phone number, please only use your professional email address, not a personal address that is only used with friends and family, so the card will not be too random.

Apart from these you can also add your social media profile, QR code, or a map depicting clearly where your company is located.

Add Supporting Text

Contact information is the main part of a business card, but a business card that only tells people how to contact you is not very attractive. Your next step is to tell the audience, why they should contact you. This usually means a slogan or a call for action.

For example, the owner of a bakerymight use a slogan like “the friendliest bakery in town” to make a difference.

However, only one call to action is included; consumers have only one thing to do, and that way they respond best.

Adding a Photo or Illustration

Adding a photo to a business card allows you to express things that certain words cannot. For example, you may use a photo background to display an example of your work. The COM portraits are particularly effective because they make people match the names of the customer with the people they have encountered, making it a simple way to refresh memory when browsing the card later. Just make sure the photos aren’t appropriate.

Choosing a Material

In order to stand out, you may want to choose something more unconventional than cheap, fragile paper. Before you start designing, you only need to make sure that the material you choose is indeed related to your company.

High quality paper:If you want to stick to traditional paper cards, it is recommended that you invest in sturdy paper.

Recycled paper: Recycled paper is a good way to strengthen environmentally friendly ideas. People throw away more than 9 billion business cards each year, printed on recycled paper helps to reduce waste.  It doesn’t just help your image; it will help this planet.

Choose Your Layout

Usually, it is best to limit yourself to two or three fonts. Consider using decorative fonts to match the neat, easy to read Sans Serif. This way, you can add personality to your name, but the contact information is still readable. You can also use type sizes to create a hierarchy, where the most important elements are bigger.
